What time is Home Assistant released?
Home Assistant does not announce a release time. The table shows when the last 12 releases (2025.12 to 2026.11) were actually published on GitHub: the earliest, the typical (median) and the latest time of day. Times are converted for Wed 2 Dec 2026, the 2026.12 release date.

Release schedule for the next 12 versions
A new Home Assistant version comes out every month, normally on the first Wednesday, after about a week of public beta testing. The official release FAQ points to the developers’ calendar for exact dates; this table reads that calendar.
| Version | First beta | Release | Status | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026.12 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.1 | Scheduled | Holiday period; January dates have moved before (see below). | ||
| 2027.2 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.3 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.4 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.5 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.6 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.7 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.8 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.9 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.10 | Scheduled | |||
| 2027.11 | Scheduled |
Scheduled: the date is in the Home Assistant developers’ calendar. Dates far ahead come from the calendar’s repeating series and can still move.
January versions: the holiday period has moved dates before. In the developers’ calendar: 2025.1 beta Mon 23 Dec 2024 (planned Wed 25 Dec 2024); 2025.1 release Fri 3 Jan 2025 (planned Wed 1 Jan 2025); 2026.1 beta Mon 29 Dec 2025 (planned Wed 31 Dec 2025).
How reliable is the first-Wednesday rule?
22 of the last 24 releases came out on the first Wednesday of the month (by GitHub publication date, UTC). The exceptions:
- 2025.6: Wed 11 Jun 2025 (moved in the developers’ calendar from Wed 4 Jun 2025)
- 2025.1: Fri 3 Jan 2025 (moved in the developers’ calendar from Wed 1 Jan 2025)
The developers’ calendar matched the actual release date for 24 of those 24 releases, which is why this page treats calendar dates as “scheduled”.
The first beta usually lands 7 days before the release: that was the gap for 11 of the last 12 versions (the other: 2026.1, 9 days).

How to try the Home Assistant beta
Each monthly version is tested in public for about a week before release. To get beta builds, open Settings, then System, then Updates in Home Assistant and join the beta channel. From then on your system is offered each new beta as it is published, and leaving the beta channel is done from the same place. The exact options depend on how Home Assistant is installed; the official release FAQ explains how testing works and where to report problems.
Back up first
A beta can contain bugs that break automations or integrations. Make a full backup and keep a copy off the device before you switch, so you can restore it if something goes wrong.
