About Does It Pair
An independent reference for one practical question: will this work in my home? Every answer links to its sources and shows when it was last checked.
Launched
What this site is
Does It Pair is a neutral reference for smart home questions that have a factual answer: whether a device works with a given platform or standard, when a software release is due, and when an event takes place. Calculators for the energy cost of running home devices will follow later. Each answer links to the sources it is based on and shows the date it was last checked.
What is live now
The Home Assistant release schedule: upcoming beta and stable release dates from the official developers’ calendar, with times in UTC and in several local time zones. An automated job checks its sources once a day, and the result of each check is shown on the data status page.
What is being built
Next are compatibility answers for common pairings of devices, platforms and standards, more release and event calendars, and then the energy-cost calculators. A page is published only when its facts can be checked against sources, and every addition is listed in the changelog.
Independent and unofficial
Does It Pair is an independent project run by one person. It is unofficial. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any device manufacturer, the Connectivity Standards Alliance, Apple, Amazon, Google, Samsung, the Open Home Foundation, Nabu Casa or the Z-Wave Alliance. Product and platform names are used only to describe what works with what.
What this site does not do
- It does not provide manufacturer support. For problems with a device, an app or an account, contact the manufacturer.
- It does not help with purchases or orders, including delivery, returns, refunds and warranty claims. Contact the seller.
- It does not sell anything.
- It has no deals, discount codes or price tracking.
How pages are made
Pages are compiled from official sources, such as manufacturer documentation, certification databases and official release data, and each fact links to where it came from. Nothing on the site is presented as hands-on testing, and there are no star ratings or “best” lists. The site’s code and page drafts are written with substantial help from an AI assistant; the owner publishes every page and is responsible for it.
The details are on the methodology page, and the data sources in use are listed on the sources page.
Money
The site currently has no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored content, and it receives no payments from the companies it mentions. If that ever changes, the disclosure page will be updated first and paid links will be clearly labelled.
